Balena, a material science company on a mission to solve the fashion industry’s end-of-life challenge, developed BioCir™, a groundbreaking compostable and biodegradable thermoplastic material.
In 2022, the company introduced the world’s first BioCir™ Slides, designed to demonstrate a complete circular lifecycle—from development and manufacturing to use and industrial composting. This local, scalable, and duplicable model proved the material’s durability, versatility, and environmental benefits, offering a blueprint for sustainable consumer products.
Through this proof-of-concept, Balena showcased how innovation in material science can create stylish, functional products that also protect the planet—redefining what sustainable fashion can be.
